HAWAI’IAN FLAG MINI CLUTCH

Hate carrying a lot with you when you go holoholo? We got you! This custom designed mini-clutch can hold Idʻs, credit cards, cash or smaller cell phones.  Made via a sublimation process. This case is both durable and fashionable. Our image has been Sublimated on durable nylon material and turned into a zippered case with two interior pockets, and includes a wrist strap and lanyard.

We took artistic license and changed up the Hawai’ian flag by replacing the white areas of the flag with lauhala.  We did this to pay homage to the importance of Lauhala in the lives of Hawai’ians. Lau means leaves and Hala refers to the leaves of the Hala tree (Pandanus Tectorius).  Lauhala was especially important to kanaka ‘ōiwi (Hawaiʻians) because it was used to make the strong sails that brought them to Hawaiʻi in ancient times. They also used the leaves of the Hala tree to weave baskets to hold items such as food.  Today, many locals honor the weaving tradition by weaving fans, hats, and bags.
